3 Different Types of Video Walls

For any type of event, it is important to have a main showcase piece. In fact, a video wall is perfect for various different occasions. A corporate event can use a video wall to display promotional images, new products, and brand logos. Plus, social occasions such as birthday parties and engagement parties can use them to exhibit slideshows and video clips.

In this article, we will discuss three different types of video walls and what works best for each event type.

What Should I Know About Video Walls?

For starters, a video wall is a collection of multiple screens that are combined to showcase one large display. Depending on the size of the video wall, each individual monitor can be the size of an average living room TV. All monitors must be synced together, if not, your video wall may not function properly. Typically, hardware setup is used to ensure that each monitor is working.

LCD Video Walls

There are separate types of video walls. First, there are LCD video walls. LCD stands for liquid crystal display. These are flat-panel displays that do not emit direct light, typically using a backlight behind the screen. Also, these types of video walls are usually easier to set up. LCD video walls can run continuously and have strong durability. However, that LCD is an older technology. In 2023, this display type is becoming increasingly outdated.

LED Video Walls

An alternative option to an LCD video wall is one that uses an LED display. For clarification, LED stands for light-emitting diode. Unlike LCD, this type of display will emit light when an electric current moves through it. This means that LED displays are generally far brighter than LCD ones.

In addition, this type of display features a razor-thin bezel (border between screen and frame). So, eventgoers won’t be distracted by thick edges. Instead, they can fully focus on the content being displayed. Finally, they typically have the strongest image quality. This type of video wall can work best in any event setting.

Projection Video Wall

Unlike the two previous entries, there is an option that does not feature any panel or monitor. For some, a projection video wall may work best. For instance, there is a blended projection video wall that uses multiple projectors to display content. Generally, this produces high-definition quality with no bezels present.

What Should I Know About a Rental Display Video Wall

If you are thinking about renting a video wall for your event, there are certain questions you should ask. First, you must consider venue size and the expected number of guests. It would not make sense to use a giant display wall for a small event space. Instead, you should opt for one that is proportional to your venue. Depending on the video wall, you may be able to customize the screen size. An event planner can help you during this process.

Additionally, you should be aware of your budget. While they typically produce better quality images, LED video walls tend to be more expensive. The larger the screen size, the more expensive it will be. Also, certain video walls are curved, and these are more costly as well.

You can choose to display one large image or multiple smaller images. In addition, a great rental company will offer different wall options and provide proper arrangements. For example, a daytime outdoor event would require certain brightness settings.
